Disparity in quality of education

September 29, 2014 00:00:00

The education system worldwide has been undergoing changes, but our education system has not changed much with the changing time. Although the number of 'A' plus students is increasing, this does not ensure that the quality of education is improving. Affluent people send their children to English medium school. This has created a division in our education system. English medium schools are expensive which the common people can hardly afford.

Children from poor families who mostly live in villages have little chance to go to a renowned school. That is why the students of rural area are far behind their counterparts in urban areas. The majority of our population live in rural areas and depriving them we cannot expect a quality education nationwide. We hope the authorities will take appropriate steps so that the gap between rural and urban schools is narrowed down. We must not forget that education is a right of the citizen and not a luxurious commodity.
