It is good to know that school textbooks are ready for distribution among the primary and secondary students. About 44 million students will get 350 million books free. It is really a gigantic job. Education is the backbone of a nation and we are moving forward to eradicate illiteracy from our society.
Although there is a lot more scope to improve our education system, we can not expect it to happen overnight. We need to take a slow and steady approach. Our literacy rate is still quite low although it is rising steadily.
Even the poorest parents want to ensure good education for their children. They have started believing that education can change their life and ensure them a brighter future. I am sure, if Bangladesh pursues a policy of education for all, it will soon become a model for other nations with large population and limited resources to emulate our feats.
