Drawing attention of Dhaka WASA authority
September 24, 2014 00:00:00
Very recently I was on my way to Dhaka WASA (DWASA) office at Kawran Bazar from New Eskaton to lodge a complaint since dirty sewerage water is gushing out from most of the DWASA manholes. Besides, surface drains are totally full of watery liquids of pungent smell. Human excreta are flowing around BSEC Bhaban-AB Bank-Amber Shah Mosque area. Similar is the situation around BAPEX Bhaban-BTMC Building-PETROCENTER surface drains and all around. The makeshift food sellers on the footpath are frying sweets, chatpati, singara on a two feet high table with sewerage liquids flowing beneath the table. Dhaka WASA Bhaban is located just close to these dirty atmospheres.
Finding all these I lost interest to lodge complaint with the WASA authority. The officials of WASA, BTMC, PETROCENTER, BAPEX, Ambarshah Mosque, 5 star hotel have accepted this unholy atmosphere. So I found no use of making a complaint about New Eskaton area. WASA waters do not reach many households' underground reserve tanks and we have to use suction pumps to draw water from main pipe lines involving additional costs. Should the LGRD ministry and Dhaka WASA look into the problems narrated when water is life, cleanliness is part of our faith and so on?
