YALA, (Thailand), Nov 5 (AFP): Eight people have been killed in a string of shootings across Thailand's insurgency-hit southern Muslim heartland, local police said Monday.
A 60-year-old Muslim man, who police said was an informant, was killed on Sunday in Narathiwat, one of three provinces hit by separatist unrest which more than 2,600 people have died since January 2004.
A 25-year-old Muslim was also killed in the region.
In Yala's Bannang Sta district, which is under a night-time curfew, a man aged 59 and his 12-year-old son were shot dead as they went to a mosque on Sunday. Two family members were also hurt.
