Electricity short circuit
May 29, 2014 00:00:00
Frequently we learn through media that most of the fires in the buildings are due to short circuit of electricity. Unfortunately many of the electrical cable makers and other electrical goods producers do not use the proper materials.
Normally house hold electrical cables are made from copper with insulations. Similarly electrical switches contain copper of brass sheets, but some make it using iron or steel sheets that lead to disaster. I have come across electrical cables made using steel wires insulated but no copper wire as core materials. After long usage these wires or switches got heated leading to fire sparks or melts in droplets causing fire.
We urge government agencies concerned, BSTI in particular, to see that electric cables and switches are manufactured with proper materials. Otherwise we will continue to have fire incidents.
