NOT very long ago women were considered necessary only for child care and other household works. Time has changed now and women at present are regarded as representatives of the mainstream workforce of society. They now play leadership roles in politics, business, sport and entrepreneurship. Women's participation has already strengthened our administration, defence, justice, banking and finance and most notably our medicare system. They are making significant contributions to other sectors as well.
Women's increasing contribution to society is evident from social enlightenment achieved over the years. They are empowered through their increased participation in socio-economic activities of the country ? an empowerment which is essential for sustainable growth and prosperity of society. The government should continue to provide strong support for women to help them achieve loftier goals.
