Empowering women entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship is the act of starting a new venture or one's own business based on creative ideas, innovation and skills. In some ventures, women have proven to be more successful than their male counterparts. Women are becoming increasingly prominent in entrepreneurship by overcoming a range of social challenges and making significant impacts across various fields. Therefore, deliberate efforts must be made to ensure that women have access to the guidance and resources they need to overcome gender stereotypes that hinder their full potential as business owners.
Women entrepreneurs are often more efficient, effective, and adept at managing their tasks on time compared to their male counterparts. While men often focus on rapid business expansion, women prioritise the sustainable investment of their money, time, and resources. This approach enables them to sustainably grow their businesses and earn respectable revenue, rather than hastily expanding. Additionally, facilitating women entrepreneurs' access to marketplaces, embracing technological advancements, and challenging social norms are crucial initial steps.
Creating an encouraging atmosphere with collaboration among the private sector, academia, government agencies, and NGOs can ensure the long-term viability of female-owned businesses in Bangladesh. By employing these strategies, female entrepreneurs can stimulate economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the nation's overall progress.
Moreover, emphasising sustainability demonstrates that women effectively manage their enterprises despite limited funding and opportunities. Compared to male business owners, women entrepreneurs are perceived to be more hardworking and productive. So, it is about time the state took more supportive measures and policies to facilitate the growth of women entrepreneurship.
