Enhancing reading habits

The Ekushe book fair at the Bangla Academy provides us with a wonderful opportunity every year to buy and collect books and enhance our reading habits. An array of books on all disciplines is on display there and we can merrily go around and pick up the ones of our choices. The book fair is a unique occasion for us to see almost all publications of the country in one place.

Books help widen our horizon of knowledge, introduce us with better things of life, guide us to the path of truth and justice and uphold eternal messages of character building. The role of books in creating a knowledgeable society can hardly be overemphasised. History witnesses that the more knowledgeable a nation is, the more progress it attains. Knowledge is irreplaceable and only books can offer that.   

In the same manner, the Ekushe book fair offers the publishing houses of the country a great opportunity for publication, sale and most importantly wide publicity of their publications. As a matter of fact, it is the single largest provider of publicity for their publications.

It is also a sought-after meeting place for all of us. As it happens, people of all ages flock together in the fair looking for favourite books, run into old friends and acquaintances which is an added attraction for them.
