Exploring new manpower export destinations-

Remittances from expatriate Bangladeshis are one of the country's largest sources of foreign exchange. Yet, Bangladesh's manpower export is facing a severe crisis. Labour markets in countries such as Libya, Syria, Yemen, and Sudan are closed due to conflict, while strict immigration policies in Europe and America have made sending workers abroad nearly impossible. Even traditional destinations in the Middle East and Malaysia are showing slow growth.
Each year, millions of skilled and unskilled workers enter the domestic labour market, with limited employment opportunities at home. Authorities have failed to create new labour markets or retain existing ones, reducing the potential for remittances and increasing domestic unemployment.
To address this, Bangladesh must simultaneously find new markets and enhance worker skills to meet international demand. Strategic planning and timely action are essential to maintain our presence in the global labour market and safeguard the livelihoods of millions.
