Extra care for our kidneys

March 13, 2015 00:00:00

The number of kidney patients in our country is rising. One in every seven persons in Bangladesh is now suffering from kidney ailments and annually around 50,000 people are dying from kidney failure and related kidney diseases. Poor people suffer more as treatment for the kidney related diseases is quite expensive which the common people can hardly afford. If an urgent action plan is not taken to prevent kidney diseases the scenario will be worse after a decade.

We have to create awareness among the people and encourage people to live a healthy life so that they can be safe from kidney disorders. We need to drink plenty of water, avoid red meat and do regular exercises. We must remember the old adage that prevention is better than cure. Those who have diabetes are more vulnerable to kidney diseases. Kidneys are vital organs of human body and we must remember that malfunctioning of kidney leads to lot of health complications in course of time, if not addressed in time. It is high time we created awareness among the people about the dangers of kidney disorders and preventive measures to tackle the same.
