Facebook has been a popular social networking media all over the globe, Bangladesh nor excepting. It is not just a media to keep in touch with our near and dear ones; it is also a source of information. However, alongside providing information, it provides misinformation. One can share one's view on any issue such as politics or social problems, share pictures and subscribe various pages. In order to have 'Like', various pages take various alluring techniques such as fake news or sex related news which fetches more 'likes'.
A few days ago, while browsing the facebook, I noticed a 'status' with picture where it states that Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar converted to Islam. The bottom of the picture/status read 'Like' and 'Share'. I was astonished to see the status because I had not read in any newspaper about the news. However, some people shared the news with zeal without knowing that it was sheer lie. This is just one instance. Everyday there are innumerable pieces of such misleading information. However, we have to be cautious about such fabricated information from FB, and must not swallow and share every news in good faith.
