CHICAGO, Oct 8 (AFP): At least five people were killed Sunday in a small town in the northern state of Wisconsin after a man, possibly a sheriff's deputy went on a shooting rampage there, news reports said.
The officer suspected in the shooting spree has been shot dead by police, CNN television reported. Local officials would not confirm or deny the report, but said, however, that the manhunt was over.
The victims were said to be 10 local area youths between the ages of 17 and 20, but officials said it was not immediately known what sparked this shooting.
Local WTMJ radio has identified the suspect gunman as Forest County Sheriff's Department Deputy Tyler Peterson.
WAOW television said the shooter may have opened fire at a party in a local house.
