Following hygiene during Eid-ul-Azha

July 09, 2022 12:00:00

The holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Bangladesh on Sunday with the spirit of sacrifice in commemoration of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim's complete submission to the will of Allah almighty. On the holy occasion, devotees will offer Eid prayers and sacrifice animals. They will also share the feast of sacrificial meat with their relatives and neighbours and distribute a portion of meat among the poor.

Given the high demand for sacrificial animals, temporary animal markets are set up across the country to facilitate trade in sacrificial animals. The authorities concerned should take necessary steps to ensure that the places where these markets are set up will be cleaned neatly immediately after Eid. Additionally, they must take the necessary steps to ensure that animals are slaughtered at designated places where the remains of animals are properly disposed of.

We no longer want to experience unbearable stench of rotting remains and blood of sacrificed animals, which can also spread disease. People should also be mindful of their responsibility in fulfilling their religious obligations. We must follow precautionary hygienic measures while slaughtering animals and throwing their remains everywhere. We must fulfil our responsibilities at individual, societal, and governmental levels.
