Foods adulterators must be punished

Ramadan teaches us to be restrained from all evils and wrongdoings. However, we observe a reverse situation. Some unethical businesspeople are committing adulteration of foods by mixing harmful substances for maximising their profits which is a heinous crime. Even big corporate houses are being involved in food adulteration.
Recently, we have observed some adulteration drives carried out by the RAB and other organisations where massive adulteration, irregularities and contamination of food have come to the fore. It has reached such a level that the High Court had to intervene in this issue of public interest.
The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has unveiled recently that 52 items in the market are substandard and contaminated. The High Court has given directives to withdraw those items from the market.
People have been affected dangerously by various chronic diseases and are dying silently due to bad effects of adulteration.
Food adulteration is a serious crime. The government should adopt a zero tolerance policy against the food adulterators before it is too late.
