Footpath encroachment causing public suffering

March 14, 2026 00:00:00

The severe problem of footpath encroachment in our city has become a matter of great concern. Footpaths, which are meant for pedestrians, are now occupied by hawkers and small shops. Even motorcycles and bicycles also move on the footpaths, which cause great suffering and inconvenience to pedestrians.

As a result, people are often forced to walk on busy roads, risking accidents. This situation is especially difficult for elderly people and persons with disabilities, who find it almost impossible to move safely.

Therefore, the authorities concerned should take immediate steps to remove illegal encroachments and strictly control the movement of vehicles on footpaths to ensure safe passage for pedestrians.
