Forest management

Easy profits are merrily exploited in our vast Sunderbans forest. Ignored, ill trained and ill-armed temporary guards are no barrier for open robbing of the trees; our valuable wealth. It seems that here the principle of "easy come, easy go" seems to be the 'order of the day'. I read a newspaper report on this issue. We cannot allow things to go like this and submit to the greed of illegal loggers and poachers who are routinely 'making hay while the sun shines'. This has to stop; the sooner the better. I would like to draw the attention of the minister, law-makers, and administrators of the government.
Can our government protect our valuable natural resources from being openly robbed, day after day in a routine manner? There has to be no other alternative other than 'this MUST stop'. For this important work every day counts; and it must get topmost priority at all stages.
We are killing and destroying young trees for selling as fuel and also in building house doors, windows and other wooden fittings. This illegal trade of tree cutting and sawing has to stop. The forest department needs to be manned and equipped to do this important task effectively. The matter needs close monitoring and follow-up.
Are the members of parliament aware or do they care about it? They must read the report and if needed discuss the matter thoroughly, with all the stakeholders. We believe our elected representatives must not ignore this illegal wastage of our valuable natural resource that is being frittered away by unscrupulous and armed forest robbers. We must stop this careless and wayward destruction of our valuable gift from nature.
