Freelancing as career

Unemployment is one of the biggest problems in our country. Every year, thousands of graduates come out from universities. But only a few of them secure the jobs they desire. According to statistics, around 30 per cent of graduates are currently unemployed in Bangladesh. Freelancing could be a solution to this unemployment issue. It is an open profession. Any educated individual can easily take some training, learn from online platforms like YouTube and find different platforms for freelancing. Many people in our country are now taking to freelancing as a career. It also brings foreign currency that can boost our foreign exchange reserves.

With new and advanced technology, freelancing has become a new hotspot for many people to market their skills. It is now an exciting and growing career path that is gaining more and more popularity in Bangladesh. Many young people have started it alongside their studies so that they can get their pocket money. Given the benefits and freedom of being their own boss, many of them do not change their tracks and become full-time freelancers. According to some studies, around 36 per cent freelancers in our country are full-time workers. A total of 96.2 per cent freelancers are below 35 years old. Many fresh graduates who have not managed to get their desired jobs are also working as freelancers. Besides, many women who manage their homes are now earning money through freelancing jobs.

Freelancing includes everything from computer programming to web design, data entry and search engine optimisation. This has generated a wide range of new opportunities for people in emerging markets that did not previously exist. Many people may wonder whether it is possible to quit their jobs and start becoming full-time freelancing professionals. There are some people in the country who are not only earning enough for their families but also helping others to become successful freelancers. The government should take necessary steps to train the educated people and support them so that they can take freelancing as their full-time career.
