Trust 'Google' to fully computerise the car. This fascinating news was published in an English daily on May 15. It was simply astonishing, possibly the last word in automobile development that one can imagine. It is a totally hands-off self driven car, with no fuel and driver needed. It is possibly a new and revolutionary breakthrough of the decade that could be on US roads maybe by the end of the next two years at most.
Having 'googled' their way into the internet bonanza, Google is now getting ready to take on the US automobile craze by storm. The car is an electron-mechanical marvel of modern science and technology. It has a roof mounted gadget that records all the things happening around the car.
A camera peeking out of the front grills is the electronic driver's eye. The steering wheel shown in the photograph alongside is more a psychological feature only, possibly to reassure the new breed of passengers. It is, otherwise, totally safe except for the hazard of some manually driven vehicle banging it from the rear while this car is stopped for traffic.
It will come first in USA where Google has mapped all the roadways down to their speed limits, which is all there in its electronic memory. For the consumers in the USA this is no longer a 'project', but a working model that may be in the hands of customers between two years or so down the road.
