Grateful nation honour agricultural excellence

April 29, 2026 00:00:00

In 2026, fifteen distinguished individuals and five institutions were honoured with the Independence Award in recognition of their invaluable contributions to nation-building, democracy and the Liberation War. Among them, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was awarded posthumously, adding profound significance to this year's recognition. We extend our heartfelt felicitations to all the awardees for their remarkable achievements and enduring impact on the nation.

This year, the nation honoured excellence and dedication by conferring the prestigious Independence Award upon fifteen distinguished individuals, among whom three eminent agriculturists were recognised. This acknowledgement reflects the growing importance of agriculture in shaping the country's economy, food security and sustainable development.

The inclusion of agriculturists among the awardees is both timely and significant. Their relentless efforts in advancing agricultural research, improving crop productivity and supporting farmers at the grassroots level have ultimately helped strengthen the backbone of the nation.

We warmly congratulate both the nation for its wise and forward-looking decision and the three recipient agriculturists for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields. Their recognition will undoubtedly inspire future generations to pursue excellence in agriculture and continue working towards a more prosperous and food-secure nation.

We hope that the Krishibid Institution of Bangladesh and the Agriculturists Association of Bangladesh will duly welcome these three distinguished agriculturist awardees with the honour and respect they deserve for their outstanding contributions. Finally, we pray for their continued good health and long lives, so that they may keep guiding the nation's agricultural sector with wisdom, experience and a unified vision.
