Green technology for RMG

A report on the matter was published in the 'Business' page of a local English daily on February 9 last. This matter should be considered as we plan to relocate the RMG factories in an organised and designated location. However, the photograph published alongside of an ideal RMG factory, though quite artistic and possibly conceptual makes one ponder if it could be cost-effective and realistic for us. However, while relocating, hopefully owners will take all pragmatic advantage of green and eco-friendly aspects in due and rational consideration.
It may be pragmatic and possibly cost-effective if we put in voltaic panels on maximum roof and side wall areas, starting for the walls from say twenty five feet over finished ground level to ensure safety from brickbat damage to the panels, during labour violence. Based on its internal return on investment, exploration of the possibility to import such panels duty-free for this purpose needs to be considered bearing in mind our paucity of power and the high cost of in-house power generation, mostly on imported liquid fuel.
Another matter that needs to be critically looked into is equipment layout, and raw material and finished product flow in and out of the production line. Any material handling and related costs thus reduced will be a permanent financial advantage.
I wonder if it can be possible to remove the system of putting factory floors under lock and key, which is against the concept of factory safety. This matter must be resolved and the jail house environment should be eliminated. Improved hygienic condition in toilets is a rational thought but our factory owners possibly deliberately keep those dirty, so that workers spend the least time away from work in a nasty and dirty environment! This matter may be considered and if possible resolved in a sensible manner. These are some of the matters that come to mind. In their common interest, the owners and the BGMA should get together and look into all such aspects so that the relocated factories are better and look more neat and presentable.
