Gruesome killing in capital

It was highly shocking to read about the killing of Moulana Nurul Islam Faroqui in the capital. He was well known through his Islam-based TV programmes, and during the last holy month of Ramadan his programme was one of my favourites.

I cannot understand who could kill such a nice and soft-spoken person. Our life has gradually started becoming more insecure in the city. We often read about killings, attacks and extortion incidents. The killing of such a prominent person like Moulana Faroqui has created fear in the minds of the common people. They hope soon the killers will be nabbed. There are many sensational murder incidents in the country, which still remain unsolved. The higher law enforcement authorities should take a firm and effective action to arrest the culprits involved in this murder.

Ensuring safety for the citizens is a prime responsibility on the part of a government. The citizens in this regard expect the present government also to act promptly. I also hope the government will be more alert to the probability of such kinds of killings and heighten required security measures, so that the miscreants do not get a chance to commit heinous crimes and create anarchy in society.  Without peace, social justice, and security in place we cannot think of taking the country forward.
