Guns and Americans

An article carried by an English-language daily stated, historically guns and Americans have coexisted since the hoary past. In US literature, the lore of their 'Wild Wild West' appears to be a part of their heritage. One wonders if carrying and using guns is a part of their [unwritten) 'Fundamental Rights', because that is always prevalent in US society.
Though it is common in America, it was not the same with us. However, as great followers of 'everything American', we now seem to have taken to guns and gun-related violence with a vengeance. Actually we are one step ahead, practicing violence and killings with not only guns, but grenades and 'cocktails' both for killing and  setting fire to homes, shops, offices or whatever takes the fancy of criminals, who sadly are now being patronised by politicians. We have taken to practicing violence as the language of politics.  We have succeeded in transforming 'democracy' into 'demoncracy' where demons in the shape of human beings rule the roost. It seems that we are determined to turn into reality the age-old saying "might is right".
Despite the freedom of carrying arms in USA, the country is run by 'rule of law'. In contrast, Bangladesh today has become a hunting ground for  using guns and grenades to destroy adversaries. Law seems to be a silent spectator only watching and doing little to bring things under control.
