Hartal disrupts daily life

Sometimes a question comes to my mind: 'Is Bangladesh ruled by its citizens?' The continuous hartal and blockade has become a part of everyone's daily life. Children are not being able to go to school, people are not being able to go to work and day labourers are not earning and not being able to take care of their families. How long will this go on? Will this be a lifelong feature of our country?
I feel very blessed and fortunate for having an opportunity to go abroad. I have seen a few European countries that are quite wealthy. But some Asian countries can be comparable with them. For example, a small country like Singapore is rich, clean and disciplined. They have patriotism, teamwork and will to go ahead.
Hartal and blockade are the main reasons that are ruining our country. I do not find any reason behind killing innocent people. This is happening in our country because there are major conflicts between the government and the political parties.
On weekends I used to go out with my family. But now it is not even safe to get out of the house. It has been reported in newspapers that from 5th to 23rd January 2015, 30 people died, around 900 people were injured and 321 vehicles were torched.
Students like us are the future of the country. If our education is hampered, how shall we develop our country? If the prevailing situation continues, then the future generation will not gain knowledge. This will never take the country upward and will rather throw us down.
We are all the people of this country. To develop our country we should all be able to get proper education and work together. We should not let our country break down. All we can do is pray, hope and raise our voices and by the grace of Almighty Allah, realization will dawn upon us and soon we shall all lead a normal life.
