Hassle with currency notes

When I went to deposit some money with a bank recently, the cashier refused to accept worn-out currency notes. I referred to a Bangladesh Bank order in this regard but to no avail. I was told by friends later that many banks did not accept torn and worn out notes from their customers despite the central bank order.

We hope the Bangladesh Bank will take necessary steps to make sure its order is carried out. The banks too should take such notes and deposit them with the central bank. The common people can go directly to the Bangladesh Bank to change their notes but that's a kind of hassle. As the Bangladesh Bank has a helpline, any customer can lodge his/her complain.
