Hatirjheel and reckless driving

 Hatirjheel is a big area situated at the heart of the capital city. This was mainly developed for public transportation, but the place has also earned a name for recreation.

 Since its inauguration on January 02, 2013, Hatirjheel has not only made transportation easier for the city dwellers; but also have become a popular hangout place for the people of all ages. It seems that nowadays Hatirjheel has become one of the most popular spots for entertainment-hungry city-dwellers. On weekends and public holidays, we notice a flood of people thronging there with friends and families. Hatirjheel offers a breathing space for the Dhaka habitants and it is welcoming. In Dhaka we hardly find a spacious, beautiful, soothing and eye-catching place. Most of the places are full of crowd and traffic; so Hatirjheel is a rendezvous where we want to spend some time as it offers some breathtaking beauty. I often use this route as it is traffic-free and it saves my time and help me to savour the beauty of the natural and manmade surrounding. I often notice many young bike riders driving their motorcycle recklessly and they not only jeopardise their life but also the life of other commuters. We have witnessed many deadly accidents mostly related to reckless motorcycle driving.

 I hope the concerned government agencies will take appropriate measures to ensure safety of the reckless drivers as well as those fall victim to their reckless driving.
