It is good that India's largest motorbike maker Hero Moto Corporation is all set to set up a manufacturing unit in Bangladesh. It will invest USD 40 million in this plant in next five years. It will be a full-fledged manufacturing unit. It has already signed a deal with the Nitol-Niloy Group, a local company. Hero Honda is a very popular motorbike brand in Bangladesh and if it is manufactured in our country, the price will become more attractive. This venture will encourage other popular world motorbike brands to come to Bangladesh and set up their respective manufacturing units here. It will create more scope for jobs for our youth and make them skilled.
I welcome this praiseworthy initiative. Common people would like to buy motorcycles due to the traffic jam and unavailability of good public transport. It saves valuable time, money and also provides comfort. Motorbikes occupy less space on the streets. Even we see many women riding motorbikes and their number will increase if a local motorbike manufacturing unit is available here. The price of a motorbike is much higher here compared to our neighbouring country India. If a motorbike manufacturing unit is established in our country, the price will decrease encouraging more people to buy motorcycles as their means of transport.
