Hospital experience turns bitter

I felt profoundly disturbed to read a news item that came out in almost all the national dailies a few days ago.
According to the report, a highly reputable and large hospital in the capital was refusing to hand over the body of a patient who had undergone treatment at the hospital for his cardiovascular disease. The family of the deceased admitted the ailing patient to the hospital with the hope that he would recover soon. The treatment of the seriously ill patient was going on with the treatment charge mounting. Within a few days, the medical bill reached Taka 32 lakh. The patient's family had paid half the bill earlier, but they were unable to clear the remaining amount of the bill coming to Taka 19 lakh. In the meantime, the patient died but the hospital authorities imposed an embargo on taking the patient's body to his residence for performing the last rites. Later, the government intervened in the matter and the family of the deceased was allowed to take the body out.
The so-called famous hospitals are engaged in unethical and reckless business in the country. Only a handful of rich people can buy their health care facility in exchange for exorbitant charges.
