Illegal parking: Cancer of the city

March 19, 2025 00:00:00

Every street in our city has become a battleground where illegal parking has taken the form of a ubiquitous menace. Private cars, rickshaws, and trucks occupy roads indiscriminately, while footpaths have turned into makeshift garages. As a result, main roads remain clogged with immobile traffic, making daily urban life increasingly unbearable.

The consequences extend beyond mere congestion. With footpaths blocked, pedestrians are forced onto the roads, putting them at constant risk of accidents. From schoolchildren to elderly citizens, all suffer due to reckless parking. Even more alarming is the impact on emergency services-ambulances and fire trucks often remain stuck for hours, leading to tragic and preventable losses of life.

Illegal parking not only disrupts traffic flow but also hampers the city's social and economic progress. Urgent action is needed to curb this issue. I strongly urge the authorities to enforce strict measures against illegal parking to ensure free movement and the safety of all citizens.
