A glass of chilled soft drink is something that we want to have most passionately in the sweltering heat of summer. Television commercials of frosted glasses filled with such drinks may make them seem appealing, but the caffeine content and added sugar in most drinks, can actually lead us to dehydration. Soft drinks are often referred to as empty calories as they provide no benefit to the body and instead harm it in several ways. From making you gain weight to exposing you to the risk of diabetes, there are a number of side effects of drinking soft drinks regularly.
There is no substitute for water when it comes to staying hydrated. Water also helps in digestion, proper absorption of nutrients, blood circulation, alleviation of muscle fatigue, and maintenance of body temperature. It is important to drink plenty of water during summer.
