Importance of organic farming
April 20, 2022 00:00:00
Organic farming is the production of food without the use of synthetic chemicals and genetically modified (GM) components. This practice mainly avoids chemical fertilisers and insecticides. Similarly, eggs and meat from poultry and livestock raised under natural environment, not under captured unnatural condition, are also organic foods.
Organic foods often have more beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants, than otherwise grown counterparts and people with allergies to foods, chemicals, or preservatives may find their symptoms lessen or go away when they eat only organic foods. Organically raised animals are not given antibiotic and growth hormones, which can create antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria in human body.
It is true that crops grown through organic agriculture is good for health but the problem is crop production in this system yields not enough to meet our needs. Still we can go for homestead and roof gardening to produce some vegetables for our own consumption.
