Improving medical service
May 01, 2023 00:00:00
We have a common complaint against our physicians that they do not spend much time when patients visit them. Moreover, they allegedly charge exorbitant fees for their advice and other health services. There are also allegations that they sometimes suggest unnecessary diagnostic tests for their personal benefit. In fact, such complaints against the doctors abound. Also, there are reports that many physicians do not want to work in rural health centres. Sometimes, there are also allegations of wrong treatment.
Currently as many as 58 per cent of upazila hospitals do not have all the physicians they are supposed to have. To address this crisis, it is necessary to set up more medical college hospitals across the country. Besides, we must encourage our students to study medical science.
