In the interest of a safe Eid journey

During the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, millions of people travel from cities to their hometowns to celebrate the festival with their families. Ensuring safe and comfortable travel for these passengers is therefore essential. A modern road system requires roadworthy vehicles and skilled drivers. Unfortunately, the condition of many vehicles in Bangladesh remains far from satisfactory. Many buses and other transport vehicles are poorly maintained, with damaged seats and mechanical problems.

Another serious concern is the shortage of licensed and well-trained drivers. Despite these risks, unfit vehicles and inexperienced drivers continue to operate across the country, including in the capital. During Eid, when travel demand rises sharply, such problems often lead to an increase in road accidents. As a result, many families lose loved ones or see their earning members permanently injured, turning a joyful occasion into a tragedy.

To reduce these risks, the authorities must ensure strict monitoring of highways during the Eid season. Unfit vehicles and unlicensed drivers should not be allowed to operate. If necessary, temporary restrictions should be imposed on unsafe vehicles. At the same time, public awareness is also important. Passengers and motorcycle riders must follow traffic rules and wear helmets.

With proper regulation and awareness, road accidents can be reduced, allowing people to travel safely and enjoy the true joy of Eid.
