Insecurity in Eid market
March 16, 2026 00:00:00
The Eid market comes alive as soon as the middle of Ramadan passes. Thousands of people flock to buy new clothes, gifts, and daily necessities, fulfilling the wishes and preferences of their family members. This festive shopping creates an atmosphere of joy and excitement across the city. Sadly, such occasions also attract unscrupulous elements who take advantage of the crowd. Wallets and mobile phones are often snatched from pockets, and bags are forcibly taken from women, turning moments of celebration into fear and disappointment. Overcrowding only increases the risk of such incidents, and inadequate security measures leave ordinary shoppers vulnerable to theft and robbery.
In this situation, the attention of the authorities is urgently needed. Law enforcement agencies must increase vigilance, install CCTV cameras, and strengthen patrolling at busy Eid markets to ensure public safety. Market management committees should also work with the authorities to maintain order and prevent overcrowding. At the same time, shoppers must remain alert and take special care of their personal belongings.
Eid is a festival of joy, unity, and family togetherness. Collective awareness, responsible behaviour, and proactive measures by both the authorities and the public are essential to ensure that dishonest activities do not overshadow the happiness of the people. Only through a combined effort can the festive spirit of Eid remain safe, secure and enjoyable for all.
