The whole country is going through a phase of insecurity and fear costing us, among other things, the all important driver of economic growth, investment. Even the local investors are hesitant to invest and pursuing a 'wait and see' policy. The country suffers a serious image crisis abroad. Every day international news media are publishing negative news about our country covering extra-judicial killing, violence, human rights abuse, strike and blockade. It is a long trail and we see no light at the end of the tunnel. Political stalemate has crippled our economy and day-to-day life. We cannot expect to achieve the desired economic growth in this suffocating situation.
The politicians concerned must shun the path of violence and choose the path of reconciliation as it is the only way to restore peace and prosperity in  society. The United Nations and influential foreign development partners are trying to break this political stalemate and I am sure soon they will able to bring about a solution to the crisis.  We are living in a global village and we need to cooperate with other countries so that we can secure lasting peace and sustainable growth.
