JoBike is a bicycle-sharing service currently operational at Jahangirnagar University, Chittagong University, Shahjalal Science and Technology University, and Dhaka University. Additionally, the service is available in Dhaka's Mirpur, Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara areas. This environmentally friendly, healthy, accessible, and green transportation system is widely popular in European countries, China, and Singapore.
On most of the country's campuses, battery-operated rickshaws, vans, and autos are the primary means of transportation, consuming a significant amount of electricity. Introducing the 'JoBike' facility to all campuses nationwide could save electricity and alleviate transportation issues. Furthermore, students can benefit from it as a form of physical exercise. Designed for use by both genders, JoBike features sophisticated locks, solar panels, and GPS systems.
Therefore, we urge the Islamic University (IU) administration and related authorities to promptly initiate the JoBike facility on our campus.
