Job satisfaction matters

June 09, 2023 00:00:00

Employees should be satisfied with their work and well-being. However, most jobs nowadays offer little leisure time to employees. Everyone requires time off from work to relax and rejuvenate. Otherwise, they feel burnt out. Employers and organisations should realise that employees should not be overburdened with work. Once an employee has left her/his office premises, s/he should not be expected to fulfil office tasks. A system should be established so that employees can maintain a balance between their personal and professional lives. There should be a healthy work environment, and employees should be involved with decision-making processes to improve job satisfaction.

It should be remembered that employees join an organisation with the intention to do good work. It is the responsibility of the employer to create a positive relationship with its employees, communicate effectively, be clear about expectations, provide the tools necessary to do the job and recognise the effort when they execute a task successfully. Job satisfaction among employees will not only improve work quality, but also employees are less likely to feel frustrated or distressed. Therefore, workplaces should promote a healthy work culture by supporting employees through counselling and workshops.
