Jobless youth and frustration
October 16, 2023 00:00:00
The unemployed in the country are facing an adverse recruitment regime. The fee for a job application has increased significantly. One has to pay Tk 500 to Tk 700. Some are charging it even Tk 1,000. In some cases, the authorities conduct several tests simultaneously on the same day. There are various steps of the recruitment process. Almost all the exam centres are in Dhaka, which is costly for the applicants. Any employment process should be transparent. Every educated person has an equal right to apply for a government job. The recruitment process also needs to be fair. The higher authorities need to ensure it. They should monitor and supervise those who are working in the recruitment process. Any irregularity should be dealt with appropriate legal action.
There is no unemployment benefit for the jobless youth. The age of entry into a job has also stayed the same. The education system also failed to provide work-oriented training. All these have made the jobless people disappointed and frustrated.
