Joining global race for vaccine

October 20, 2020 00:00:00

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently listed three Covid-19 candidate vaccines developed by Bangladesh's Globe Biotech Ltd in its draft landscape. This is really a piece of good news for Bangladesh because with this, the country has entered the global race for a Covid-19 vaccine.

Earlier, a globally recognised journal has certified Globe Biotech's BANCOVID as scientifically alright for human trial. The New York-based Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) which operated bio archive or BioRxiv published the results of its pre-clinical trials on September 30.

It is just the beginning for BANCOVID and it requires a long way to go. Despite this, we feel proud of such an innovation as it has placed Bangladesh among 155 other vaccine candidates from across the world. Even if the vaccine fails to pass all the stages, BANCOVID will remain as an inspiration for all the Bangladeshi scientists in the future.
