Kazakhstan prepares for early elections

ASTANA, Nov 10 (AFP): Kazakhstan was on course today to hold snap parliamentary polls in January following a controversial presidential vote this year that cemented veteran leader Nursultan Nazarbayev's grip on power. Some 53 ruling party members in the 107-seat Mazhilis lower house have signed a non-binding petition to dissolve the chamber and hold new elections within two months.
