Keeping Eid cattle markets clean
September 12, 2014 00:00:00
Eid-ul-Azha is only a few weeks away. Every year, we see many sacrificial animal markets being set up in different parts of the capital. During that time a huge traffic gridlock takes place, and sometimes the commuters have to wait for hours to reach their destinations.
Many unauthorised animal markets are also set up before Eid, and such unplanned markets create huge sufferings for the common man. The authorities who run those sacrificial-animal markets do not take adequate steps to keep the market spots clean.
The two parts of Dhaka City Corporation should ensure that animal-markets do not create additional sufferings for the city-dwellers. The cleaning procedure should also be properly maintained by the market authorities. We must make the atmosphere pleasant as much as possible. Everybody hopes this time during Eid-ul-Azha we will find our city comparatively cleaner than during the last Eid-ul-Azha.
