Lack of classroom facility in rural schools

Students in many rural schools attend their classes on the corridors or in open places as their schools do not have classroom facilities. Their study is severely disturbed due to lack of classrooms. The poor children have to endure cold in winter and heat in summer. The rainy season is more dangerous for them. They get no respite. Children are the future leaders of the country. If we fail to give them their required facilities, how can we expect them to build a prosperous country? It is good that the number of illiterate people has been declining gradually but we must not be complacent. We need to banish illiteracy from our country for good because poverty and illiteracy are interlinked. When we achieved independence in 1971, the literacy rate was abysmal - 16.8 per cent. Since then the successive governments have been trying to eliminate illiteracy as it is a reason for our backwardness and poverty. After 42 years of our independence, we should have eradicated it from our soil.  We should all rise above partisan interests and petty divisions and join together to fight illiteracy so that every child of our country gets quality education.
