Land grabbing is rampant in our country as the prices of land are skyrocketing and most of the time the ruling party people are directly involved in it. The unscrupulous people often target government lands and grab it using muscle power. Even in the capital we see many such land grabbing incidents. What is happening in the remote places is easy to understand.
It appears the government is not ready to take action against the offenders since it is alleged that many of the offenders belong to the ruling party. Day by day the incident of illegal land grabbing is increasing. When a new party comes into power only the identity of land grabber changes, the situation remains unchanged. Many influential land grabbers even encroach upon river banks so that they can fill it up and sell at high prices and make a windfall profit. It is not understood how people become so daredevil to grab the government land! Due to river bank grabbing gradually our water bodies are disappearing and it is creating a bad impact on our environment. A little rain in Dhaka inundates the city streets.
