Lessening Eid-travel sufferings

Eid-ul-Azha is only three weeks away and during this Eid, more city dwellers go to their respective ancestral homes than during the other one. Every year we come to know from the media about the sufferings of home-bound people on the eve of Eid festivals.
Just before the Eid holidays, the communication ministry wakes up and tries to repair the dilapidated highways and lessen the sufferings of the common people. But due to the quick-fix nature of work, we do not see any quality work and after some time the repaired roads go back to their previous condition.
This cannot continue for long. The communication ministry must repair all the major roads before the Eid festivals, so that we don't have to hear the old excuses for any failure. When we do not plan, we plan to meet failures. I do not know when the communication ministry will learn this simple lesson.
During the Eid holidays, home-bound people face hurdles beginning from getting a ticket to reaching their destinations safely. At every step they face hurdles, and it is very difficult for women and children to cover even a small distance. The common people have the right to experience less suffering, when they go to their villages to celebrate the two Eid festivals.
