Let children play outdoors

June 06, 2023 00:00:00

Young children in Old Dhaka have little access to sports. Here, teenagers can be seen playing cricket and football in the streets. Most educational institutions do not provide any facilities or arrange tournaments in which students can participate in. So, they are often found glued to gadgets like smartphones, laptops and tabs.

Physical activity and sports have to be integral parts of a child's curriculum to foster both physical and mental faculties of a student. If there is no physical activity, students may turn obese, resulting in unhealthy adults of tomorrow. Parents, teachers, school authorities and policymakers need to be sensitive to children's requirements. Opportunity of playing sports in our schools is a must in the interest of our children's well-being.
