Let not Bangladesh be turned into a burn unit
January 27, 2015 00:00:00
Countrywide blockade continues with no signs of a settlement in sight. Common people as usual are the unlucky victims. It is in their fate.
It is getting more and more alarming with every passing day. The number of burn victims is on the rise. The transport sector has come to a grinding halt. The supply chain is breaking down. The garment sector is languishing in an atmosphere of uncertainty not being able to ensure timely export. In short, the country's economy is suffering badly.
In my humble capacity as a citizen of this country, I urge upon the politicians to stop warring with one another and prevent the whole country from turning into a burn unit. We have a right to protest if things do not go the way they should. We have a right to stand against the government if it fails to fulfil our aspirations. A citizen reserves some basic rights and our constitution also has given us the right to speak freely. Unfortunately, we do not really enjoy freedom of speech now. At the same time, one must be careful in making statements and freedom of speech should not be interpreted as a right to say anything that injures our mind.
