Limon\\\'s brave fight
October 19, 2014 00:00:00
The court has finally dropped charges against Limon, who was shot and maimed by some personnel of the Rapid Action Battalion. Later, the elite force filed cases against the victim, not a very uncommon scenario in our country.
The victim had to amputate his leg due to firing. Now Limon and the peace-loving citizens want to see the perpetrators being punished for their heinous crime. The victim and his family should be adequately compensated.
I feel that Limon is a lucky young man as many victims of the law-enforcing agency's brutality always carry the stigma of being criminals when in fact they are innocent. Many victims lost their lives and never see the light of justice.
The Limon case is not an isolated one. Our ruling quarters are alleged to have used the law enforcers as a tool to fulfill their own agenda. I hope, the civil society and the peace-loving people will create pressure on the government so that it is compelled to take stern action against the guilty who abuse the power that has been given to them. It is high time the citizens wake up and ensure the rule of law taking proper course.
