Looking back at 2014

We are set to bid farewell to the year 2014. But there is still a feeling that we welcomed 2014 only the other day with great jubilation and how short the year was to come to an end! The year 2014 has been mostly calm if we look at our political arena. We have not seen much of an unrest compared to last year which was full of turmoil.

In cricket, the Tigers got their much-anticipated success at the year-end against Zimbabwe. In football, Sheikh Jamal Club brought some success for us as it clinched the King's Cup in Bhutan.

Unfortunately, in 2014, we didn't witness any improvement in human rights situation. It has been a year when quite a few incidents of human rights violation took place. Some people were killed in so-called 'shootout'. Some more were subjected to forced disappearance.

We hope, the New Year 2015 will usher in a period of peace and calm and everybody will witness a much improved situation across the country.
