Maintaining menstrual hygiene at workplace

Menstruation is an essential process for each and every woman. And it deserves enough attention. One can suffer from a variety of health problems if one fails to follow good menstrual hygiene. Dealing with the menstrual cycle is never easy, although there is still a hesitation in our society to talk about it. In our country, most working women during their periods do not get least support from their colleagues and offices. And this can lead to allergies and various genital infections as well as other complication. In this backdrop, Bangladesh has recently observed Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28 through organising a number of awareness programmes. The aim of observing the day is to create a world where women will not be left behind due to their menstruation. And menstruation will not be considered as a stigma.
Maintaining menstrual hygiene at the workplace is of utmost importance. And all of the offices and workplaces for their own sake should take basic steps such as maintaining a stock of products related to menstruation and aligned medical facilities. Providing sanitary bins can be a way to create a menstrual-friendly workplace. During menstruation, women usually struggle with severe pain, difficulty in sleeping, or maybe sickness. To ease the pain, employers should provide a room where women staff can relax or lie down for 10 minutes to regain the energy needed to get through the day.
