Making birth registration hassle-free -
October 09, 2023 12:00:00
The birth and death registration service has been stopped for around three months across the country. People especially students are facing immense problem for this. Day-to-day work of the people is being hampered as a result. Birth registration ensures a child's right to identity. It is compulsory to get a total of 19 services including one's vaccine, national identity card, passport, land registration, driving licence, marriage, visa application and admission to educational institution, among others. But currently we are deprived of all these services. Every day thousands of people face all sorts of sufferings when they try to get births registered. They are often told, 'the server is down'.
As the government is conducting the birth registration digitally, it must look into the matter sincerely. Previously births and deaths used to be registered directly. Since 2010, birth and death registrations are done on-line. With school admissions for the new year coming up, pressure on birth registration will start increasing now. There may be over 30 thousand registrations a day on an average. So, if the problem is not resolved, the sufferings will mount.
