The Dhaka-Rajshahi highway plays an important role in connecting the Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj districts with different parts of the country, including Dhaka. Hundreds of vehicles use this road every day.
Although most major highways across Bangladesh have been upgraded to four lanes, this important highway has yet to be widened. As one of the busiest roads in the country, it is prone to frequent accidents. Many women, children, and elderly people have lost their lives in such accidents over the years.
It is hoped that the authorities concerned will take necessary steps to convert this highway into a four-lane road without further delay.
